Things have been a little hectic lately and I’ve been away from reading some of my favorite blogs. Imagine my surprise when I found this nomination for the Sunshine Blogger Award from Gail Loves God, check out her blog, she writes some really great poetry. Thanks for nominating me Gail, I know that there’s quite a few other bloggers whom you could have nominated, but you chose me. It’s quite an honor. In the spirit of full disclosure, I do need to mention that I’ve been nominated for blogger awards twice before, but I wasn’t able to follow up on those. This time I am determined to do it, and to figure out how to make it all work.
I love the name of this award! That’s because I love the sunshine! Having grown up in Michigan, we didn’t see much of the sunshine in the winter, and I always remembered how gloomy it seemed to be. Maybe that’s why I so love sunshiny days, and summer. Solomon said it best: “Light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to see the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 11:7, ESV)
In our line of work, my husband and I get to experience all kinds of weather, we can go from frigid temperatures to warm summer-like conditions in a matter of a few days. That’s great for me, a person who loves sunshine, if we aren’t currently in sunshine, I can count on being seeing a nice break in the clouds and bright sunshine within a rather quick span of time. For instance as I am writing this posting we are sitting in downtown Boston, and it’s snowing. By the end of the week, we will have (hopefully) stopped by the Detroit area for some fabulous Buddy’s Pizza and a quick visit with friends, then onto Chicago. Within the next three weeks, we will be in Chicago, Washington DC, New York City, Naples (Florida), West Palm Beach, Chapel Hill (North Carolina), and back to Chicago. After that, who knows?
And now a little bit about the Sunshine Award. Someone gets nominated for the award. And, there’s quite a lot of awards out there. To me they are a friendly nod and acknowledgment of other bloggers out in the blogosphere. The person who is nominated then answers a few questions about themselves and/or their blog and then nominates x amount of other bloggers to do likewise. You will notice that I have done this below. But, here’s what I really want you to do, and what I want you to know. If I mentioned your blog it’s because I enjoy reading your blog, there’s actually a few others that I should have mentioned here, but then the list would be extra long. If I didn’t mention your blog here, I still encourage you to look over the list below. I’ve given a bit of a description of each blog, and I encourage you to check out the blogs that I’ve referenced. You may see some new ones here, and perhaps you’ll be intrigued by what these wonderful bloggers share.
Now if your blog is referenced below, I want to let you know that you don’t actually have to follow though, respond to the questions, and nominate others. Participation is voluntary.
Ready? Set? Go!

My Questions from Gail:
1. How are you doing?
Better now that I have reprioritized my commitments. See my posting God Can’t Fill My Cup When All I’m Holding is a Sieve
2. How are things at work/school/home?
For us, work and home coincide with each other. We do have a physical home in north Alabama, but for a large majority of the year we are in our rig. We deliver Broadway plays all over the USA and sometimes into Canada. Our line of work appeals to my sense of adventure. I love waking up in a different place everyday, discovering new sights to see, and I especially love working side-by-side everyday with my fabulous husband.
3. What song(s) does the word Sunshine make you think of?
The songs that I used to sing to my son – You are my Sunshine & This Little Light of Mine.
4. What’s Your Favorite hymn?
Whew, that’s a tough one. There are so many from which to choose. If I could only choose one, or two, old fashioned hymns it would have to be: It is Well With My Soul, or Amazing Grace. I love listening to contemporary Christian music.
5. Do you have a favorite number?
Not really. However, I am interested in the significance of numbers in the Bible and just what those numbers symbolize. For example: three for the Trinity, and seven for perfection.
6. What color is your hair… originally? 😉 (You can share your current hair color.) lol
Well it was blond as a child, then turned brown, now it’s a lovely shade of white/silver (that’s natural)
7. What is your favorite bible book?
Another tough one. I have so many passages that I draw strength from, and they are all over the Bible.
8. Who is your favorite bible character?
Of course, Jesus. Next to Jesus, I guess it would have to be Peter or Paul. They both exhibited some rather undesirable behaviors and character traits, and yet God used them in a mighty way.
9. What makes you excited?
Going to new places, seeing things that others don’t get the chance to see.
10. Do you know how much God loves you? ❤ Because He does! ❤
Yup, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
And now for my nominees:
Bryn Sellers For someone who never wanted to write a blog, Bryn has an amazing blog. She exhibits such amazing amounts of faith and grace all while the family deals with the severe illness of her son.
Building the Love Shack Lacie’s blog is interesting story of love and determination all centered around a little cottage, as Lacie calls it “a place of hope and love.”
Jeff Rab’s RabBits Jeff’s blog is cleverly called RabBits, he covers everything from funny stories about squirrels, to interesting information about horses, and truly wonderful self-composed poetry.
Pastor Unlikely Tom’s name for his blog, gives you a clear view of just what a life-altering relationship with Jesus does to a husband, father, lawyer, who turned into “Pastor Unlikely” when “The King of Kings, Jesus Christ flipped a switch one day in my life and changed everything.”
40 Foot House This wonderful blog is authored by a former co-worker. She and her husband both have quite a bit of wanderlust in their souls. So much so, they sold their home in a suburban neighborhood of Detroit, pared down their worldly possessions, bought a rig and a 5th wheel trailer, and live a life of travel and exploration around the USA. Andrea shares new discoveries, features her rescue dog Elvis (Andrea & Shawn were quite involved in dog rescues when they lived in the Detroit area), and honest reactions of life on the road.
Lynn Abbott Through Ink and Image If you haven’t seen Lynn Abbott’s blog, you are really missing out! She’s quite a talented artist with a love and heart for God. And, she spins a good story also. She too has a dog that is featured in one of her art works, see if you can find him.
Alyssa P Harris Alyssa likes to mix up her subjects from fashion to travel to a bit about faith. Plus, anyone who is game to eat a burger from Dyer’s in Memphis, which are purported to be fried in 100 year old grease, deserves a little nod and a good read.
Beauty Beyond Bones Caralyn’s blog offers readers an open and honest view of her “brokenness and redemption through the Lord” and her recovery from severe anorexia. And, while I’ve never had an eating disorder, nor have I personally known anyone with an eating disorder, I do like to read her posts.
A Fractured Faith Stephen and his wife Fionnuala hail from “across the pond” in Ireland. Stephen lately admitted that he is a kindred spirit when he said that he is a “listophiliac,” anyone who likes making lists as much as I do, deserves to get a wee bit of acknowledgement.
Brad Powell If you read through some of my blog postings, you may notice the I mention Brad Powell as one of my most favorite teaching pastors. I never tire of hearing Brad’s words of wisdom.
