The longer I walk with God the more I learn. I’ve always had faith in God in my life going back as long as I remember. There are times in my life where I can see that my faith in, and understanding of, God has grown more significantly.
There were a few times when it appeared that all was stripped bare from me and my life. Deep, emotional, desperate times of grief over the loss of a loved one, or the loss of the security that I’ve known. A recent acquaintance said to me that she felt that most, if not all, people are about three steps away from being destitute. Three steps away! That’s not much at all. And I believe that her observation is most likely a profound truth to which most will not pay attention. I’ve learned the hard way that this life that we have is unpredictable. And, things can change in a matter of moments. You never really know what will happen in your life from one moment to the next. So, those things upon which we place our security can be fleeting to say the least.
And during those hardest of times is when my understanding of God’s love, protection, and provision has become the most visible and tangible in my life. Jeremiah said it best in Lamentations 3:57 when he said “You came near when I called on you; you said, ‘Do not fear!'” God loves us with an unconditional love, and although He allows certain things to happen in our lives, it is always administered with love and the intention of bringing us into a closer relationship with Him.
Also, my faith in God also grows daily, especially when I study His Word, dwell on His teachings, pray to Him, stop and listen to what He has to say, and journal my reflections. Reviews of previous journal postings and blog entries always help me to remember just how far God has brought me. They remind me that He is ever so much more faithful to me than I am to Him. He always has the very best intentions for my life, to bring me closer to Him each and every day until my life on this earth is over and I join Him in my eternal home in Heaven.
Believing God, trusting God, adoring God, walking with God, growing with God, confessing to God, talking with God, listening to God, learning with God – it’s the Heart of the Journey ❤️
